Product and category review
Vehicle category, origin and intended use established first, because the category decides every requirement that follows.

Can your vehicle be sold, registered and driven in South Africa?
Homologation is the approval that lets a vehicle be sold, registered, trialled or operated in South Africa. We assess the product, establish the approval route, review documents and test reports, identify the gaps, and carry the engagement with the NRCS through to approval and Conformance of Production.
Vehicle category, origin and intended use established first, because the category decides every requirement that follows.
SADC or non-SADC pathway determined early, which is where most imported programmes are won or lost.
Certificates, drawings and test reports measured against what a submission actually requires.
Missing or weak evidence surfaced before submission rather than after a rejection.
The technical file structured and lodged, with the correspondence carried on your behalf.
Conformance of Production readiness so the approval holds after it is issued.
Where documents are reasonably available, roughly 1.5 months. Where evidence has to be sourced, clarified or reconstructed, or where regulator response times run long, plan on up to 120 days.
The regulator assesses the finished vehicle, not the chassis and body separately. The build specification has to be settled up front so the vehicle that leaves the workshop is the vehicle that was approved.
Vehicles built locally or within the Southern African Development Community follow a local production and conformity pathway. Vehicles manufactured outside the region follow an imported vehicle pathway with source-plant documentation review. Determining which applies early is the single highest-value decision in a programme.
No. Approvals are issued by the regulator. We are independent of both the authority and the testing laboratories, which is why our read on your file is worth having.
